Dear readers,
the interim results of my new school uniform poll show that most voters want my summer uniform to consist of a summer dress (and I really hope I can find one in my size). I hadn't thought that this would get so many votes, that's why I didn't include a question from my first poll again: "if 'dress' gets the most votes, may I also wear the blouse/skirt-combo (whichever gets most votes from those) optionally?" (note: the current runner-up in the interim results would be a short-sleeved blouse, tie, and gymslip)
So what do you think? Should I be only allowed to wear the dress? Or should I be allowed to choose independently between dress and blouse/gymslip every day - or should there be rules when to wear which of those (e.g. blouse/gymslip has to be worn in detentions or on formal occasions)?
Please leave a comment :)

Hi Cornelia,
ReplyDeleteI think that if you cant' find a summer dress you'll have to take the second choice.
I myself don't have a summer uniform, no matter the weather I have to wear my gymslip with a long sleeve blouse worn with a regulation tie...
If you manage to get a summer dress you might use your dice to see if you'll enjoy wearing something else than your gymslip. You could say that if the temperature reches a certain level you can role a dice and if it's a 6, then you may wear your dress. If not, well, it's gonna be a long warm day in full uniform.
Cheers,
J.
Hello J.,
ReplyDeletethanks for the input. :-)
I was also thinking about rolling a dice, but rather the other way around: summer dress is the "standard" and full uniform has to be worn on special/formal occasions (=6 on the dice).

In most UK schools, the summer uniform will be a choice of summer dress or blouse / skirt / gymslip. It is usually the decision of the pupil (or the more sensible parent / guardian) to wear either the dress or the gymslip based on the weather conditions. As you say, this could be done with a dice - even numbers for dress, odd for gymslip. All formal occasions - award ceremonies, music evenings etc - are carried out in full winter uniform regardless of the weather.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps, and hope you get a summer dress!
