Writing lines and squares

Dear readers,

Sorry for the delay in updates (but hey, it's much more frequent than it was a few weeks ago, right?). Last week I visited a dear friend, so I didn't have to write lines.

In the week before that, however, I had to write two assignments for Miss Melanie. The first one was fairly standard: "Damit ich im Training bleibe, habe ich heute diese Zeilen zu schreiben." ("To keep up the training, I have to write these lines today) 200 times.

The next task however was rather memorable. I had to fill two pages of squares with increasing prime numbers. Sounds easy but it is really, really hard. Because you need to focus all the time. And unlike the last time I had to write squares, this time I couldn't just simply write because I always had to look up what the next prime number was.

And being focused for hours isn't really that simple. Especially when you have to fear making a mistake and having to toss away hours of work, as it happened on page 2 for me. One simple mistake (I forgot one digit), more than an hour of work - gone.

  1. I know how you feel when you make a mistake. There have been a few times when I had nearly gotten to the end of the page and made a mistake which meant I had to discard the page and start again. It took about a hour just to write one page.

Were you wearing your school uniform for this punishment?

  2. I also know how it feels to make a mistake.
I made several in my last punishment for Mrs. Maclay.
I just arrived at the bottom of the second side of a page when I made a mistake and had to re-write both sides of the page! That was horible!

  3. It's nice to see that you write your numbers properly. I know the feeling of having to start over after having made a mistake; it certainly makes you concentrate more.

When you wrote page 2 again, did you just copy from the page with the mistake or did you look up each prime number again, one by one?

The task could also consist of writing all the dates [DDMMYYYY] of a number of calendar years, for example last year, this year, and next year (incl. one leap year!). That's not something a naughty girl likes.

  4. @Kelly
I always wear my school uniform when I write. It helps to get in the right mindset.

I looked up each prime number again (I printed them out). This was less stressful for my eyes compared to looking at two pages full of squares.

  5. imho there are numerous possibilities to make writing squares a very tough punishment. and then a failure just a few squares before the paper is filled: thats very cruel.
but there is no chance than to rewrite the whole page

Please don't post anonymously. I'd like to know who's reading me blog, so it would be nice if you would at least select "Name/URL" and put in your name. Thank you.
